It’s Panto Time!

Pantomime at Fairfield Halls is back and we at The Caterham and District Independent were invited along to join in the fun at their 'Cinderella' debut last month! Imagine Theatre produced an outstanding performance in the venues newly refurbished Phoenix Concert Hall which has an incredible capacity of up to 1800. The production without traditional theatrical infrastructure and incorporating a modern digital screen took the panto to a new innovative level. The cast consisted of a long list of credits and talent which was portrayed during their performance.

Letter From the Editor – January 2020

HAPPY NEW YEAR, and welcome to the second edition of your new-look Caterham and District Independent.
The amount of work that goes into producing a newspaper is enormous. There are articles to be commissioned, layouts to plan, and advertising to schedule: there’s always something to do and barely enough time to do it in! I’ll be honest: in the run-up to December’s launch there were moments when the workload seemed overwhelming but I was supported throughout by an incredible team of designers, writers and social media experts.
Each one of them worked their socks off and I’d never have made the deadline without their help, expertise and inspiration.
And thank you for your amazing response to our first edition: your positive feedback made all the hard work worth it and has given us motivation to produce a newspaper filled with more news and local interest stories.

The church, based in Beechwood Road (off Croydon Road) in Caterham Valley, was keen to use the anniversary to engage the whole community, which it serves through regular activities for people of all ages.

Letter From the Editor – December 2019

Welcome to your new Caterham and District Independent! My name is Louise D’Costa and I’m delighted to bring this much-missed local paper back to the borough of Tandridge.

I spent my childhood in Chaldon, my school days in Oxted and I now live in Old Coulsdon: I know the area well and I’ll be ensuring that you’re kept up-to-date with everything that’s happening where you live.

After leaving university I started in PR, before realising that my calling was in media. I moved to the BBC, working first in children’s television, then entertainment, drama and, finally, news.
