Letter from the editor – April 2024

The lighter evenings now the clocks have sprung forward, plus plenty of chatter from the birds in the trees make it all the more exciting to write this month’s letter! Welcome to April’s issue, which is, as always, filled with local news and events, places to visit, great offers and top tips from our columnists.

We’re really pleased to bring you front page news about our latest initiative! In September, we will be launching our very own Tandridge Independent Support Fund, which will enable us to give residents and organisations within our community a helping financial hand if needed. We’ll bring you more details nearer the time but if you’d like to be involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Our junior reporter Matilda has covered some lovely stories for us this month, including Elizabeth Court resident Len who has just celebrated his 100th birthday, and inspirational Smallfield schoolboy Zac, who is running a mile a day for an incredible 172 days, to raise money for Young Epilepsy and increase awareness of the condition he was diagnosed with aged eight.

Chantal Baker from Champs Consultants reminds us about the tax changes which have just come into force, Gina Nicolas from EJ Coombs Solicitors helps those who might be worrying about child maintenance, and Neil Miller from Hever Castle & Gardens shows us how to make a scratch and sniff hanging basket.

We’re also delighted to announce that Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa has started a What’s On feature with us, beginning with a hello from Richard, the GM. Look out for their future pieces, which will include an interview with their new head chef and news and updates about the hotel, as well as a few surprise opportunities for our readers to visit this luxury venue.

Thank you to our readers, contributors and advertisers. Without you, our monthly paper wouldn’t be possible. One of the ways we like to be able to thank you is through our competition, with a prize from a local business. This month, Botley Hill Farmhouse has donated a fabulous cream tea for two, so don’t forget to enter – check our Instagram for details of how.

See you in May!
