Digital Skills milestone

More than 1,000 people have signed up to the Digital Skills Surrey project since it began in October 2022. The free scheme aims to help people increase their digital literacy, with support sessions including topics such as setting up an email address, understanding a new device, shopping online, safe searching and using Microsoft Office.

Get creative with pipe cleaners

Oxted Library’s Crafternoon session focuses on pipecleaner craft this month. For children of five and over, these drop-in sessions cost £1, and take place on Wednesday, 3 April and Friday, 12 April from 14:30 – 16:00.

Children’s Easter craft fun

Warlingham Community Library is hosting an Easter craft fun event on Thursday, 4 April, 10:30 – 11:30, for children aged six and over. £1.50 per child. To book, visit the library or email wrlibrary@hotmail.co.uk. Prepayment is needed to secure the place.

Poetry Group meeting  

Warlingham Library Poetry Group will be meeting on Friday, 5 April (14:15) and Saturday, 6 April (13:45) to discuss poems on the theme of England. You are invited to bring along a favourite poem to share, and one other you have chosen or written yourself. Please book your space by either visiting Warlingham Community Library or by emailing vivbarbarapoetry@hotmail.com.

A copy of Warlingham Poets Spring into Life, a poetry booklet containing poems by local people, with illustrations, is available from the library for £5. Donations from the proceeds go to the library.

Sight for Surrey

Sight for Surrey will be visiting Oxted Library again on Wednesday, 10 April, between 10:00 and 12:00. It’s a drop-in session, so there is no need to book, just turn up. 

Sketch on Saturdays

A new Sketch Club begins at Caterham Valley Library on 13 April, offering people the chance to relax, chat and draw. Aimed at all abilities and experience, these sessions are free, and will take place on the second Saturday of every month from 14:00 – 16:00. (Please bring your own materials.)

Easter workshop 

EmpowerEd will be running a free Easter workshop at Bansted Library on Wednesday, 10 April, with a variety of educational activities, arts and crafts and Easter games. For children from 4 to 11 years old, it takes place from 10:00 – 12:00. Search ‘Easter workshop Banstead’ at eventbrite.co.uk to reserve your place. 

Treasure hunts and wildlife workshops in Horley

Horley Library is offering Earth-themed treasure hunts and colouring activities throughout the Easter holidays, during their regular opening hours. 

They also have two creative workshops where children between 5 and 10 can find out about endangered animals with the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Terrific Tigers is on Tuesday, 2 April from 10:30- 11:30, and Are Elephants Afraid of Mice is on Tuesday, 9 April from 14:30 – 15:30. These are free, but booking is necessary and children must be accompanied by an adult.
