Letter from the editor – December 2023

Well, here we are at the end of another year and I can honestly say this one has truly sped by! While writing this letter to you I am also in the middle of present buying, Christmas card writing, birthday planning for my oldest and trying to remember to be at the right school at the right time for each of my three children, and their various festive events, which I can admit to often failing at!

My team and I bring you this last edition of the Tandridge Independent for 2023, and it’s filled with news and our regular columnists, plus lots of local events and places to visit this festive season. We’ve got news of schoolboy racing driver Mikey Porter’s fantastic finish to his first season in the Ginetta Junior Championship, an update from the planning consultation for Lingfield’s Orchard Court care home and why Warlingham Rugby Club’s U16s boys’ team is celebrating.

Our columnists continue to give you the benefit of their expertise and, following on from the autumn appearance of that famous red briefcase, Chantal Baker offers us a breakdown of the recent budget and what it might mean for you. We’d also like to give a big welcome to our new writer Greg Barber, who has taken over from Adrian Van Aalst for our monthly AFC Whyteleafe round-up.

As Christmas is nearly upon us, we thought we would treat you all to not one, not two, but three competitions this month, so make sure you find and enter them all!

Wishing all our readers, advertisers and contributers a very happy Christmas. We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for your support this year as we have worked hard to establish our brand across the district.

Merry Christmas!
